at home date night rhythms
in April, we got serious about date night for the first time in our lives. 5.5 years into marriage and we finally got intentional about this. It has been so good. Every single week, without fail, since April, it’s just us one night a week. We put Alden to bed, get takeout, and settle in just us. It’s been such a rhythm of beauty and renewal and peace in our home. Some nights it is deep conversation, others it is dinner and Netflix and rest. I pulled together some of our favorite at-home activities from this year that we did. Fair warning: most of them are games and puzzles. And quite a few of them are best accompanied by home-crafted cocktails.
A few on our list that we’ve bought but haven’t gotten around to trying yet:
7 Wonders Duel
We have done more puzzles this year than ever before. Here are a few of our favorite ones!
Andddd this puzzle mat is a lifesaver for when you can’t finish one in one night!
A few of our favorite shows that we have watched over the past couple of years. Most are not particularly kid appropriate, so maybe save these for date night ;)
New Girl (Netflix)
Brooklyn Nine Nine (Hulu)
The Good Place (Netflix)
Veep (HBO)
Man in the High Castle (Prime)
Downton Abbey (Prime)
Arrested Development (Netflix)
The Great British Baking Show (Netflix)
Jeopardy (Netflix)
Our Planet (Netflix)
Schitt’s Creek (Netflix)
Something fun from date nights at home this year is that we’ve been able to support several of our favorite local restaurants with our business! It’s a night with no cooking or dishes once a week, and we get to support some of our favorites in our community. If you live in our area, make sure you try these!
There are countless ways to make the most of at home date nights - these are just our favorites! Hoping it inspires you a bit to connect a bit deeper with y0ur boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse!
