fall garden planting and prep
We got our fall garden (mostly) planted on Saturday! Such a good feeling to spend an afternoon out in the dirt together.
We started a bunch of seedlings and will transplant them in a couple weeks once they have sprouted and grown a bit. We added in more arugula and lettuce, as well as another batch of herbs. I realized that I meant to grow chamomile this spring/summer and forgot. It only has about a 60 day growth period, so I’m going to try a batch of it now, which would be harvested before the fall frost. We’ll see what happens there, but I at least wanted to try. Here’s full list of what we planted:
arugula
spinach
lettuce
brussel sprouts
broccoli
basil
parsley
dill
cilantro
chamomile
blue bantam peas
This week, I’ll be adding a few more veggies directly into the ground in a raised bed. Hoping for longer carrots than what I got from my containers!
purple sun carrots
danvers carrots
rainbow onions
beets
I shared this on Instagram the other day: “gardening has been an unexpected balm to my soul during these past few months. time with my hands in the dirt and watching things grow before my eyes has been healing and soothing in so many ways.”
